Nancy and Marta have remote Paris sights to visit on the hop
on, hop off bus and souvenir shopping, I have a blog to write and a walk down
memory lane visiting Sacre Coeur so we say ‘bonjour’ for the day and they
headed for the bus and I headed for Starbucks……….whatever the country it is my
lifeline to the internet. Our hotel did
have one computer set up in the lobby for guest use but the line was never
ending and it would take me a while to catch up on the events of the last few
days so that just wasn’t going to work this time.
As I walked into Starbucks it started to pour and I thought
of Nancy and Marta on the bus……..at least this time they had an umbrella to
share and Marta had her sweatshirt. I
ordered an extra hot latte and considered myself just a little bit lucky sitting all
dry and warm, looking out the window at the rain while I caught up on
correspondence and thoughts of the people I love and miss.
Just about the time my coffee was finished and I was tired
of email the rain so graciously subsided.
A quick stop by the hotel to drop off my computer and I set out to
investigate Montmartre. Today the rain
would be unforgiving for all of us so it was not long before it started
again. This time I stepped into to a
charming restaurant for a Cesar salad lunch.
A break in the rain and I was on my feet again headed to
Sacre Coeur. I have seen ‘a lot’ of
churches in my travels but for some reason this one had forever remained
special to me. My memories served me
well and after I had walked up the avenue of ‘trinkets and trash’ the church
came into view and I simply stopped and admired its beauty. There is something about its grandness
sitting atop the hill that touches me deeply.
I climbed the many steps with all the other tourists and enjoyed the
vast view from the top, looking out to the west of Paris. I wouldn’t see the sunset tonight, I suspect
no one would with the weather but I was once again awed by the whole experience.
I dropped a note at the hotel for N and M telling them I was
going to wait at the bar across the street.
This was actually the nicest weather part of the day and I thought it
would be great to just sit and enjoy the Paris atmosphere. There was only one table available on the
sidewalk facing the street between a cute couple and a table of three men, as I
smiled and started to squeeze my way in they both moved to give me room. I had not actually made it to my chair before
one of the guys asked me to dance.
Begging for a moment to get settled before I started dancing I suddenly realized I
had selected the right bar!
Before I knew it I was talking up a ‘storm’ with Christine
and Jocelyn (pictured above) ……… I was never actually sure which one was which
but they were both delightful. For me,
the perfect Parisian couple! In between
conversation there was always someone ready to dance, so with each pause in the
conversation I found myself on the sidewalk dancing to the music of a couple
playing inside the bar. Now this is
just about perfect, the weather, the people, the fun, the music, it’s
PARIS!
I probably should have seen this coming but I didn’t……..my
table of suitors started to chatter away in French and I am finally told that
they ‘all’ want to marry me and I must pick one……..damn, where are Marta and
Nancy when you need them! I of course
tell them I cannot choose only one so they talk among themselves again and then Inoxs
(holding my hand in the picture) tells me it is okay they have decided he is
going to marry me! If you think I was surprised, check out the look on the face of the girl on the far left......hahaha.
Even Greece couldn’t compare with three marriage proposals
in three days………..Paris has been good to me!!!
I cannot be with you in Paris. I get very jealous and brokenhearted with every marriage proposal you get.
