Is simply a very dangerous thing to do……….Sitges has a
delightfully quaint shopping district set back off of the beach. They had tried to hide it from us but we were
way too smart for them and just webble wobbled our way through the city until
we found it. There is this attitude
when you are shopping on your birthday.
It’s kind of like it’s your day and you are entitled to everything you
see that you like.
My first purchase was a bright shiny red watch which I had
spotted even before the store opened. We
had to find our way to it later to make the purchase. No problem, I was plenty determined to own
that watch. As many of you already know
I have a weakness for watches, not expensive watches just happy fun
watches. The last watch I’d fallen in
love with was a gift a few years ago and I was clearly ready to be in love
again. Here we met the most delightful
Spanish family who owned the store, Grandma and Grandpa, mama, a very smart
teenage boy and three younger children.
The service was impeccable and the only problem was the store was so
tiny once the whole family was there there wasn’t any room for customers!
I thought that would do it but we continued to browse from
one store to another and all of a sudden I spotted something else red that I
was simply going to have to have. I used
to have a little cell phone purse and I loved it. I guess they never really caught on in the
states and when I lost that one (twice, the first it was under the bed at Judy’s
house and she returned it to me but I wasn’t so lucky the second time and it
was gone forever) I was never able to replace it. Well, right before my eyes cell phone purses
in green, yellow, blue and RED. Now this
is turning out to be one grand birthday…………….Almost out of harm’s way, we’re walking back to the hotel as Sue has made a lot of purchases and we needed to deposit the bags, when we pass a store she has been ogling since we arrived. Sure one more, what’s the harm? So the next think I know I am buying the most adorable while leather jacket in Spain in the middle of July. This proving a girl will do crazy things on her birthday!
An afternoon on the fantastic Sitges beach moved my tan from ‘medium’ to ‘you go girl’ so this day was really working out well for me.
We dressed for dinner and Sue asked if she could buy me a glass of ‘cava’ before we joined Joan, Rene and Karen for dinner. It would have been impolite to say no and besides we still had an hour before dinner. I will be remembering Spain for its cava its very, very fine very, very cheap CAVA!!! My birthday dinner was at the Argentinian Grill right on the beach with the best table in the place and the best friends in the world to share it with.
Now that was one hell of a birthday!!!
