Fan Dancing

As has become tradition I offered Judy the opportunitiy to write the final blog of her trip and she jumped at the chance.  Here in Judy's own words is the story of her trip to Barcelona...................

My room is small with a bed, bookcase and a wonderful, chest-high fan.  It keeps me relatively cool at night and is the first thing I head for when I get home from a hot, sweaty walk.  Every time I enter or leave the room, because it is rather snug, I have to move the fan against the wall and pull it out again. I’ve come to think of it as fan dancing.  My favorite new move.
When I arrived in Barcelona, Dott gave me a fancy red and black Spanish fan.  I’ve carried it with me throughout our travels and used it many, many times.  It will always take me back to Barcelona.  It has been an amazing trip.  I’ve seen so many marvelous pieces of art, sculpture, fountains and incredible architecture.  We’ve eaten many terrific meals with the tastes and smells of fine Spanish, Basque and Catalan cooking.  At night, when I sleep, I’ve had the most vivid dreams because of the sensory stimulation of the day.   This has been the trip of a life time and one I will never forget. Favorite things: Gaudi architecture, especially  Sagrada Familiar, the most unique jewelry store in the world, cava, people watching, Sangria, the food at Milk, Lobos Bar, Comerc 24, Tickets and the quiet, sober Spanish people who I have made smile with my bastardized Spanish, the beauty that is all around us, and so much more.  I’m a San Franciscan and I know I left my heart there, but I’m leaving some part of myself in Barcelona and taking some new stuff home with me, too.
As she said at the beginning of this adventure, Dott and I have been friends for many years.  I consider myself one of her biggest fans.   Our time together this trip has had highs and lows, but we always manage to figure our way through things and have a great laugh along the way.  We have shared fun, stories, silly moments, triumphs, secrets and Hurricane Isaac, as well as a difficult departure from Valencia.  Good Bye Dott, it’s been wonderful, memorable and lots of fun.
Bueno Adios mi Amiga, it was wonderful sharing this adventure, and at times it was truly an adventure, with you.  Remember, the next time you're in any knid of trouble you can always hide in the water closet!   Have happy and safe travels home...............
