These Spaniards are not a quiet bunch that’s for sure. It was really hot yesterday so at about 8pm I
decided to venture back out as the weather was finally cooling off and a nice
little breeze had kicked up. Not really wanting
to go far I headed to ‘My Bar’celona
just down the street from my apartment.
This was the very first bar I had stopped at when I hit town. And where I immediately learned Barcelona
was a wine friendly place. In most bars
the wines are cheaper than the beers…….nice!
This made me think of a couple of guys in my past lives. These were guys who had just so slightly
resented my drinking the ‘costly’ wines while they were economizing with their
beers. Life is all about choices is what
I always say!! Anyway I digress My Bar
is located on a nice little through fare between a main street and a plaza so
it is out of the way of traffic and yet provides some excellent people
watching. And I’m not a peanut fan but
they have these really unusual peanuts in the shell that are ever so tasty.
I was no sooner seated than the police came roaring down the
street clearing it off of people and here came a protest. I think it was about killing off some type of
sea life but I’m still really fuzzy about a lot of stuff that goes on around
here. It was fairly small and passed
quickly. Not like the protest last Saturday
morning. I never saw this one but heard it
for about an hour starting around 10am.
Sant Jaume Plaza, where my apartment is located contains the city hall
and the Generalist (seat of government?).
They filled the plaza with motorcycles and then rev’ed their engines for
a couple of minutes, then honked their horns for a couple of minutes, than
chanted for a couple of minutes over and over and over and over! I don’t know if government heard them but I
know the neighborhood did!!
