It's Sunday, of course I went to Church!

It’s Sunday so I decided it was time I visited the famous ‘Gothic Cathedral’ which I knew was somewhere nearby my apartment but wasn't sure exactly where.  The streets were quiet and quite pleasant as I made my way with only a gut feel rather than follow the map that has been my constant companion for the last four days.  By now I know that if I do get lost I won’t be lost for long.  The La Rambla and the Plaza Sant Jaume are always my safe places to regroup and try again.   The church proved pretty easy to find and well worth the effort.   It is magnificent, it’s true it isn’t the Sagrade Familia but it is in my neighborhood and pretty cool in its own right.   It was built in 1298 but not finished until 1913.  These Spanish certainly take their time finishing their churches that’s for sure!!!  Haha The surprise of the day was the two musicians playing in the plaza in front of the church.  From somewhere they had wheeled out a full sized piano which one guy was playing while an old man sat in a chair and played the trumpet.  In some way these two guys managed to play some pretty beautiful music.  Go figure!!  I sat in the plaza at one of the outdoor cafes and had a coffee and a chocolate pastry and did the most enjoyable people watching.  I’ll tell you one thing no matter where I go in the world the German’s have found it before I got there!!
Last night was a hoot around here........sorry I went out without the camera which was a mistake.  This was a national festival held throughout Spain.  There were speachs, touch lightings, a 12' high King and Queen, music, they gave away 'rosemany' plants, there were parades and there were small plays put on by kids on street corners and there were lots and lots of fireworks.  But the best part of all were these homemade very large cardboard cutouts of 'devil bulls' which they chased you with in hopes of scarying you.  Hilarious, absolutely hilarious!!  Yes, I pretended to be scared but I really wasn't, much!!
